Delmar was born in Concord Township, Delaware County, OH, on the family farm of his parents William Taswell & Sadie (Amos) Dulin. Delmar left the family farm during the early years of the Great Depression to take a factory job in the nearby town of Marion, OH. It was there that he married Dorothy Luella Young on December 29, 1934. Dorothy had been a "neighbor" in Concord Township and both Delmar and Dorothy were 1927 graduates of Bellpoint High School in Delaware County where Delmar had been a member of several state-championship basketball teams. Delmar and Dorothy were Marion, OH, residents for the remainder of their lives. Delmar was an avid sportsman - baseball, softball, bowling, hockey, tennis, hunting, fishing - and was a championship-caliber horseshoe pitcher - winning the Marion County championship on numerous occasions. Delmar & Dorothy parented two sons between the years of 1938 & 1943. One of these children, Paul Edward Dulin, died during childbirth.
