He graduated from the University of Iowa with a Bachelor in Chemical Engineering, Kansas City University with a Law Degree, and the University of Washington with a Doctorate in Patent Law. He worked for The Boeing Co. as a Chemical Patent attorney for over 30 years. He founded C&W Tax in 1958, which is still family owned. He was a Mason, and a member of the Burien Rotary Club.
