Rev. Frank McDonald Alexander, of Russell, Kansas (formerly of Riverton, Nebraska) died Thursday, August 1, 2013 at the Hays Medical Center, Hays, Kansas. Frank, the youngest of five children, was born on February 27, 1927, in Peacock, Michigan to Clyde and Nora (Storment) Alexander.

The family resided in the Flint, Michigan area and Frank attended school there. At the age of 17 he enrolled at Central Bible Institute, Springfield, Missouri to begin training for pastoral ministry. While there, he met Doris Jean (Jeanie) Sigler. World War II continued on at that time so he put his studies on hold and enlisted in the United States Navy and served aboard the USS Bairoko Bay until the war ended. During the time that he was aboard ship, Jeanie moved to Detroit, Michigan and began working for the war effort, in the factory helping build B-52 bombers. She was "Rosie the Riveter" during the remainder of World War II.

When Frank was honorably discharged from the Navy at the conclusion of the war, Frank and Jeanie were married in Pittsfield, Illinois, her hometown on August 18, 1946. To this union, son, James was born in 1947 and four and one half years later in 1951, son, Mark was born. During those years, Frank worked at local businesses in Pittsfield, Illinois and returned to Bible School, attending both Zion Bible Institute and Penile Bible Institute.

Frank and Jeanie pastored their first church in Camden, Illinois and over the next 58 years, they were called to churches in Colorado, Michigan, Nebraska, Montana and Ksnsas. In April, 2008, Frank and Jeanie were honored by the General Council of the Assemblies of God for 50 years of ordained ministry. Early in 2013, Frank, at the age of 86 retired from full-time ministry.

Frank was a hard-working man, and in addition to being an Assemblies of God pastor, Frank also served as a County Judge in Kiowa County, Colorado. He was also a builder and a painter. He built houses in many of the communities where he was pastor and he loved to design and build unique plans, the Barn style being one of his favorites. One of his dreams was to own and operate a restaurant. In Riverton, Nebraska, he built that restaurant and named it "Ole McDonalds". It was a meeting place for area farmers and friends to enjoy a home-cooked meal.

Frank and Jeanie loved to travel and had many opportunities to visit special places in the United States and also traveled to the United Kingdom and twice to South Africa to visit their son, Mark and family.

Preceding him in death were: parents; brother, Roy Alexander and sisters, Gladys, Dolly and Grace.

Frank is survived by: wife, Doris Jan "Jeanie" Alexander of nearly 67 years; son, James "Jim" and wife Esther, grandchildren, Crystal and Frank all of Russell, Kansas and great granddaughters, McKenna and Lauryn; son, Mark Alexander and wife Vickie from Lomé, Togo, West Africa and grandchildren, Ryan Alexander of Prairie Village, Kansas and Cristi Alexander of Cardiff, Wales, United Kingdom and a host of family and friends.

Interment with military graveside honors was in the Greenwood Cemetery, Franklin, Nebraska.
