Services for Mrs. Josephine Bearpaw, 64, of Stilwell were Nov. 1 at 2 p.m. at Salem Baptist Church with Revs. Sonny Pritchett and George Polecat officiating. Burial was in Salem Cemtery.
Pallbearers were Charlie Soap, Albert Soap, Grover Fourkiller, Eunah Marshall, Newman Briggs and Eric Stock.
Mrs. Bearpaw died Oct. 29 at W.W. Hastings Hospital in Tahlequah. She was a home maker and a member of the Cherokee Indian Organization. She was born Jan. 15, 1921 in Adair County, Mrs. Bearpaw was the daughter of Watt and Charlotte Fourkiller Christie. She had lived in Adair County all her life and worked as a Foster Grandparent at Stilwell Elementery School.
Two daughters, Jennie Mae Acorn and Rosie Bearpaw, died earlier.
Survivors are six sons, Jimmy Daugherty of Las Vegas, NV, George Bearpaw, of Parsons, KS, Stanley Bearpaw of Sells, AZ, Stan Bearpaw of Stilwell, Thomas Bearpaw, Jr. of Columbus, GA, and Mike Scraper of Sapulpa; four daughters, Sallie Whiteplume of Lander, WY, Betty Avendano of Hemet, CA, and Mary Bearpaw and Loretta Acorn both of Stilwell, Juanita Bossey of Oklahoma City, a brother, Jack Christie, of Stilwell; 30 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
