Thresa Anne Fech (nee Brown), 88, of Whiting, IN, passed away on Tuesday, March 27, 2001 at the St. Anthony Home, Crown Point.

Thresa Fech was born on August 25, 1912 in Whiting, IN, to William and Henrietta (Schellenger) Brown and was a lifelong resident.

She was the beloved wife of the late Edward N. Fech who passed away June 14, 1988. She is survived by seven children: Bruce (Barbara) Fech of DeWitt, MI, Elaine (Mitchell) Ostrowski of Wheatfield, IN, Dale (Marjean) Fech of Griffith, Norman (Sue) Fech of Griffith, Beverly (Robert) Murzyn of Whiting, Dennis (Marilyn) Fech of Fort Wayne, IN and Linda (Patrick) O'Connell of Terre Haute; 29 loved and loving grandchildren and 47 great-grandchildren; sister, Loretta Galvin of Valparaiso; sister-in-law, Angeline Fech of Chicago; and many nieces and nephews. Also preceded in death by her son, Brian J. Fech, grandson, David Murzyn, daughter-in-law, Barbara Fech and nine brothers and sisters.

An active parishioner of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church where she was a member of the Rosary Society and a former member of the St. John Adult and Alleluia Choirs. A member of the Daughters of Isabella Circle #81 (prayers Wednesday, 2:30 p.m.) and American Legion Post #80 Auxiliary (memorial service Wednesday, 3:15 p.m.).

She was a retired Hammond Crossing Guard with 10 years of service and a former cook and housekeeper for St. John and Sacred Heart Convents and for the Clergy at Calumet College of St. Joseph.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 29, 2001, at 10:30 a.m. at the Baran Funeral Home, 1235-119th St., Whiting, IN, a Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Whiting, with the Rev. John E. Kalicky, C.PP.S. officiating.
