Son of Alex Sr. & Susie Laudenklos.
He graduated from Monroe High School, Monroe, Nebraska. On June 24, 1943 Daniel entered the US Army. He was stationed in Germany and later at Omaha Beach, four days after the major battles of D-Day. He received five battle stars which included: Normandy, Central Europe, Northern France, Ardennes-Alsace, and Rhineland. He was a Private First Class in the 208th Infantry Battalion 3rd Army, where he served under General George S. Patton. He was honorable discharged on January 7, 1946. Upon his return he married Betty Abbott on June 12, 1946 in Bellevue, Kansas. They made their home in Monroe, Nebraska.

Daniel worked as a mechanic at Nansel Ditter for a number of years. He also worked for the Monroe Alfalfa Mill, and retired from Far Better Feeds. After he retired he did small engine repair work at his home. He was a member of the Monroe United Methodist Church and the Monroe American Legion Swanson Post #322.
