Survivors: children and spouses, Charnell and Ronald Meisel of Jefferson City, MO, Marilynn and Chet Zuck of Tuscumbia, MO, Stanley and Cathy Barnhart of Quincy, IL, Kenneth and Jennifer Barnhart of Jerseyville, IL, Roxanna and David Duncan of Russellville, MO; step-children, Rita, Josephine, Emily and Jim; seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death are his first wife, Lina Aldine (Woody) Barnhart on January 20, 1983, his second wife, Jean (Ricker) Barnhart on November 24, 2007, one step daughter, Celia, one brother, Henry Hoover Barnhart, and one sister, Louise Scholl.
Homer was a World War II Army Air Force Veteran, serving in the Pacific Theatre, working as a mechanic on B-29 Bombers. He joined the Carpenters Union in Jefferson City, MO and worked as a mill right welder, all while farming his land until his retirement. Homer was an avid hunter, fisherman, and a lifetime member of the NRA.
Visitation will be Monday July 29, 2013 from 9:00 AM – 10:00 AM at Phillips Funeral Home of Eldon, MO with the Funeral Service beginning at 10:00 AM with Pastor Mark Towns officiating. Interment will follow at Pendleton Cemetery in Meta, MO with Full Military Honors provided by the Eldon VFW Post #2442 of Eldon, MO. Memorials are suggested to Pendleton Cemetery of Meta, MO
