Ballston Spa - Margaret M. DeVaux, 96, a long time Dutchess County resident, who also resided in Florida, went to sleep on Friday, January 13, 2012 at the Maplewood Manor in Ballston Spa.
Born in New Paltz on August 20, 1915, she was the daughter of the late Eli and Martha E. Van Wagnen Cutler.
On September 18, 1937 in New Paltz, she married Adrian O. DeVaux, who predeceased her on September 16, 1969.
Margaret was a waitress for many years then became a caregiver for the terminally ill, retiring in 1998.
Margaret is survived by her daughter, Patricia Lane and husband, John, of Hyde Park; son, Adrian DeVaux Jr. and wife, Janet, of Saratoga.
She was a beloved grandmother for eleven grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, and twenty great great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by two grandchildren, Noreen Ross and Adrian DeVaux III.
Calling hours will be from 5 to 7 pm, Wednesday, January 18, 2012 at Sweet's Funeral Home, Inc., Rte. 9, Hyde Park.
Family and friends will gather at the funeral home Thursday, at 10 am, and proceed to New Paltz Rural Cemetery for a graveside service and burial in the family plot at 11 am.
In lieu of flowers donations in Margaret's name may be made to the charity of your choice.
