Frank was the son of Augustus Albertus (1844 - 1918) and Margaret E. Hobson (1843 - 1925) Doolittle. Frank Doolittle was married to Rosa Cerenah Shepard of Alameda,CA. They had three children, Clara C. b; 1875, Ralph Cornell, b; 1878 and James Harold, b; 1896.

Four Star General James Harold Doolittle was a military hero as noted in "30 Seconds over Tokyo" fame of WWII. His elementary and high school years were spent in Nome, Alaska.

The Doolittle family history in America goes back to the first immigrant, Abraham Doolittle in 1649. Abraham landed in Connecticut and generated many Doolittle offspring.
