He was born November 9, 1926 in Springfield, Idaho, the son of Robert Samuel Hawker and Lois Edna Goodwin. He attended school in Springfield and Aberdeen High School and joined the Army at age eighteen. He was on his way to Tokyo when the armistice was signed. He was re-routed to Okinawa where he served as a refrigeration mechanic with the 3346th Signal Base Depot as part of the World War II recovery effort.
On April 8, 1948, he married Donna Ransom in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served as ward clerk for four Bishops.
He enjoyed flying and instilled this love in his sons and grandsons. He spent many years as a private contractor, building homes. He also operated a trucking business with his son, Larry. Anything he could picture in his mind, he could build it with his hands and make it work. He enjoyed his children, grandchildren and great grand kids. He loved animals, his donkeys and especially his little dog, Pup, who was waiting on the other side for him.
He is survived by his wife, Donna, of Blackfoot; children, Larry (Cathy) Hawker of Blackfoot, Adele (Paul) Fuger of Washougal, WA, Bart (Debbie) Hawker of South Jordan, UT, Julie (Weston) Potter of Blackfoot, Russell (AiLin) Hawker of West Jordan, UT; sisters, Gladys Robbins of Idaho Falls and Leda Farley of Provo, UT; sisters-in-law, LaVerne Hawker of Pocatello and Joanne Hawker of Blackfoot; twenty three grandchildren and forty two great grandchildren.
