Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 1st, 2013 at Gorsulowsky Funeral Home in Vivian, LA from 2-4 PM, followed by a service at 4PM. Officiating will be Pastor Ralph Hines from Ferry Lake Baptist Church.
Pete was born in Waldo, AR and moved to Louisiana at a young age after the passing of his father. He was a loving son and brother and took care of his family from a very young age, learning different skills and working different jobs in order to provide for his mother and siblings. Pete also served his country by joining the US Navy.
Pete always enjoyed fixing whatever he could get his hands on, leading to a successful job as a Master Mechanic in the oil industry. This led him to work for several different companies throughout his life and allowed him to travel to different places around the world.
Pete loved life and loved fishing more than anything else. He was a dedicated husband and father and enjoyed spending time with his family and pets, while reminiscing about his travels and experiences around the world.
Pete was preceded in death by his parents, Iezekiel Staggs and Elizabeth Lillian Beasley; sisters; Trudy, Ruby, Gladys and Christine and his brothers, Virgil, R.B. and Glen.
He is survived by his loving wife and best friend, Elba Staggs; children, Andy, Gayle, Gloria and Annie and by his sisters Mary Helen and Mattie; his nieces and nephews as well as by his grandchildren, Robbie, Jeff and Mandy and great grandchildren Lily and Ava.
