Kathleen G. Dean, age 79 years, of Reese, died Saturday evening, July 27, 2013 at her home. She was born on March 13, 1934, daughter of the late Harold and Nora (Young) Thomas. Kathy attended Flushing High School, graduating in 1952. She then went on to Saginaw General Nursing School in Saginaw graduating with her RN degree in 1955. She married Frank D. Dean on November 9, 1957. He preceded her on January 2, 1998. Kathy was employed with Aleda E. Lutz VA Medical Center in Saginaw for 40 years and was a member of 1st Church of God in Saginaw. She had enjoyed sewing, bowling, driving, her dog "Buddy" and spending time with her family. Surviving are her two sons, Ross Dean of Reese, Patrick (Joan) Dean of Saginaw, daughter-in-law, Robin Dean of Reese; grandchildren, Drew Dean, Maureen Dean, Julie Zwerk, Amy Zwerk (Brian) Duncan; brothers and sister, Fred (Elaine) Thomas, John Thomas, Sylvia (David) Newcomb and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, stepbrothers, Bob and Thomas Stetson and a great grandson, Jonathon Duncan all preceded her in death.
Funeral services will take place at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, August 1, 2013 from the Ware-Smith-Woolever Funeral Home, 9940 Saginaw Street, Reese. Rev. David VanNorman will officiate with burial in Gilford Township Cemetery. Kathy's family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. and on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
