Culbert
John S. Culbert, 72, of 305 Market St., Chester, died Thursday in Veterans Hospital, Elsmere, Del. Mr. Culbert, the husband of Margaret Bowen Culbert, was born in Upland and lived all his life in Delaware County.
He was a Purple Heart Army veteran of World War I, served with the 28th Division, was a member of the Irish American Association, Lloyd Athletic Club, Franklin Fire Co. and Lynch-Brush VFW Post 1521, all of Chester.
In addition to his widow, he is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Eva Dell Aquila and Sue Ann Culbert, both of Chester; a son, George of Parkside; a stepson, Charles Rostron of Chester, seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
The funeral will be 9 a.m. Tuesday at the John E. Carr Funeral Home, 21st st. and Providence Ave., Chester. High requiem mass will be sung at 10 a.m. at St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church, Chester. Burial will be in Chester Rural Cemetery's Soldier's Circle.
Calling hours will be after 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
