Ben L. Adkins was the third child of Samuel Andrew Adkins and Sarah Rebecca Stice. As a child Ben's parents moved around a lot to MO, AR & TX. He married his first wife Anna Lee Mays on 02 Jan 1898 prob. in TX and to this union was born one dau., Louise Gladys Adkins in Jefferson Co., TX. Ben's wife died during child birth. When Louise was not being raised with her father, she was being raised by both grandparents. Ben married a second time to Minnie May George on c 1904 prob. in Ellis or Waller Co., TX. To this union nine children were born 1) Lillian May 2) Clifford L. 3) Lowell A. 4) Edgar "Ed" Lee 5) Loyd Jackson 6) Benjamin Howard 7) Lantha Lafene 8) Alvin "Whitie" and 9) Elvin "Blackie" [twins] ADKINS. Their first child being born in Saratoga, Jefferson Co., TX and the remaining children being born in Wetumka, Hughes Co., OK. In later years, Ben and Minnie divorced. He worked as a carpenter. He then moved to Calumet and then to El Reno, Oklahoma, where he died at home. He remarried to Betty.
