DEATH CLAIMS SAMUEL OWENS
FUNERAL RITES MONDAY AT LETTS FOR MAN, 75
Death claimed Samuel E Owens, 75, at 11:30 p.m. Friday, at the family home, two miles east of Letts, where he had lived for 65 years. He had been in a serious condition for several weeks and his sister, Mrs Louisa Scripture, of Harris City, had made her residence at the Owens place for that period.
The deceased was born on January 13, 1872, in Decatur county and was the son of Malinda and Jeremiah Owens. His wife, Lula, preceeded him in death on February 26, 1938.
Survivors include: Two sons, Ivan, of East Chicago, and Glenn of Pascagoula, Miss; a brother, Alfred, of Greensburg, R R 2, and a sister, Mrs Scripture. Two daughter preceeded him in death.
Funeral services are to be held at the Letts Methodist church at 2 p.m. Monday, with the Rev Robert Shipley, pastor of the Letts Baptist church, in charge. Burial will be at Mapleton cemetery, southeast of Letts. Friends may call at the Owens residence after 1 p.m. Sunday.
