James moore was 86 at time of death, died at Waccamaw Community Hospital in Murrells Inlet. The son of James Bernice Moore and Marie (Parsons) Moore-Porter. He graduated from Andrews High School and the Citadel, class of 1939, had an A.B. Degree and a L.L.B. Degree from the University of South Carolina in 1942. Mr. Moore was called to active duty as a Lieutenant in November of 1943, serving in the European Theater and was discharged with rank of Captain. He began his Law practice in Georgetown, South Carolina in 1946. He joined H.L. Smith as his Law Partner, forming a Law Firm known as Smith & Moore. The Firm later was called Moore, Flowers, and Doar. That firm later merged with McNair and Sanford, P.A. in 1987. James was involved with economical and political life in Georgetown County. He also served on the State Developmental Board starting in 1960, he founded Litchfield Company, he was elected to the House of Representatives in 1948 which he served 3 terms. He was appointed to the South Carolina State Ports Authority in 1961. Mr. Moore was member of All Saints Church. He is survived by his wife, Mary Lee (Phillips) Moore, a son, James B. Moore Jr. of Georgetown, South Carolina, two daughters, Harriet Miller of Pawleys Island, South Carolina and Porter Tuttle of Mt. Pleasent, South Carolina, 8 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
