The following appeared in the Springfield Republican Saturday, March 6, 1909. "Ensign Churchill Humphrey, United States Navy, who made the trip around the world on the flagship Connecticut, was married in San Jose, Ca. , Thursday night to Miss Martha Williams. Churchill reached San Jose only a few hours before the ceremony, after a flying trip across the continent, and with his bride he started East yesterday, to join his ship".
Martha and Churchill had two children, Mary Moss (born 1910) and Alexander P. Humphrey (born 1911).
