Newton Busbee, age 73, of Florala died July 25, 2013, in a Florala health care facility. He was born January 13, 1940, in Laurel Hill, Florida, to Larmar and Maudie Qualls Busbee.

Newton worked for over 30 years as a mechanic in the textile industry in Florala. He enjoyed going to yard sales and auctions with his brother in-law Larry. Newton took pride and loved to care for his yard around his home. He was always available to help his neighbors and friends in our community. Newton could be found on Mondays, Thursdays and Friday afternoons watching wrestling on TV at his home.

Newton was preceded in death by his father, Larmar Busbee; his mother, Maudie Qualls Busbee; and two sisters, Laura Day and Helen Callier.

Newton is survived by Barbara Sue Dennis, the love of his life for over 30 years, of Florala, Alabama; one sister, Shirley Daniel and husband Gary of Cypress Inn, Tennessee; one brother, Preston Miller and wife Betty of Arizona; one brother in-law, Larry Cassidy, of Florala, Alabama; one cousin, Frances Cox, of Laurel Hill, Florida; four nephews; and one niece.

Funeral services for Newton Busbee: 3PM Saturday July 27, 2013, from Chapel Hill Baptist Church with Rex Cassady and Danny Thames officiating.

Interment: at Chapel Hill Cemetery.

Visitation: Friday, July 26, 2013, at the Busbee's residence at 1633 6th Street in Florala.
