Mrs. Katherine L. Klaustermeier, 80, of 828 Ruskin [Ave.] died at 1:10 p.m. Wednesday in her home.
A lifetime resident of the Edwardsville area, she was born on Feb. 12, 1896, in Hamel Township, a daughter of Herman and Carolina Heideman Klueter. On May 8, 1937, she was married to Fred W. Klaustermeier, who died on Sept. 27, 1958.
Mrs. Klaustermeier is survived by a step son, Vernon Klaustermeier of Edwardsville, brothers, William Klueter of Granite City, John G. Klueter of East Alton and Emil J. Klueter of Edwardsville, sisters, Mrs. Mary Highlander of Alhambra and Mrs. Wilbur (Lydia) Maedge of Marine, nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A stepdaughter, Mrs. Francis Leonard, and two brothers preceded her in death.
Mrs. Klaustermeier was a member of the American Red Cross bloodbank volunteer workers for many years, of the Edwardsville Shut-in Club, of the Eden United Church of Christ and the Eden Circle No. 4 Women's Guild.
Visitation will be in Lesley Marks Funeral Home after 2 p.m. Friday. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday in the Eden Church with the Rev. Wesley Bornemann, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Valley View Cemetery.
Memorials to the Eden United Church of Christ Radio Fund will be appreciated by the family, according to the funeral home.
Pallbearers were Barry Hosto, Gary Henschen, Ronald Highlander, James Klaustermeier, Vernon Klueter and Robert Klueter.
