Inis "Mama Allen" (Meriwether) Allen was born on April 23, 1922 in Todd County, Kentucky, and she was the daughter of Ellis Walter "E W" Meriwether (1898-1976) and his wife Dorothy (Tyler) Meriwether (1899-1975).
She attended Todd County School System and was a member of Concord Missionary Baptist Church where she served on the Mother's Board. She was also a member of The National AFRO American Industrial Union Lodge.
Inis was married to Joe Lewis Allen Sr (1920-1965).
A resident of Clarksville, Tennessee, she was 91 years old when she passed away on July 16,2013 at Gateway Medical Center, Clarksville.
Funeral Services were held at Concord Missionary Baptist Church and burial was in Concord Memorial Gardens.
Preceded in death by her husband and by her siblings Rose (Meriwether) Eddington, Ellis W Meriwether, Randolph Meriwether and Ed Love Meriwether Sr, she was survived by five children; twenty-two grandchildren; forty-three great-grandchildren; seven 2nd great-grandchildren; and a number of other family members and friends.
