Husband of his first cousin Hester Ann Roe (Berger) Berger; Son of Jacob Berger, Jr. and Catherine Nowlin.

Served as a Captain in the Confederate Army

Samuel and Hester made their home at Berger's Store, across the road from the Berger Family Cemetery. Sam was a farmer, a manufacturer (or processor) of tobacco, and a merchant. He operated wagons which traveled north to Lynchburg, VA and south to North Carolina, exchanging goods for raw products.
