Charley F. Hodges, 71, 1602 Missouri Ave., died at 12:50 a.m. Sunday at the Veterans Hospital, Fayetteville, Ark. Mr. Hodges was born April 18, 1899, at Fort Scott, Kan. He had resided in Joplin most of his life. He was a veteran of World War I and had served with the American Expeditionary Force in France in 1917. He was employed at the Campbell Express Company from 1944 to 1958 and in highway construction work as a powder man from 1958 to his retirement in 1963. He was a member of Gospel Workers Church. Survivors include his widow, Josephine Hodges; a son, Charles E. Hodges, Houston, Tex.; two daughters, Mrs. Kathleen Duke, San Bernardino, Calif., and Mrs. Deloris Tingle, 4001 Terrace Drive; a sister, Mrs. Lula Woodward, Vancouver, Wash.; nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Arrangements will be announced by Mason Chapel.
