HAMPTON - Elder Sunny D. Hughes, 96, answered the Master's call on Sunday, May 29, 2005. He was born June 1, 1908 in Newport News, Va. and was a member of True Mt. Zion Holiness Church. He will be remembered for how he loved to play the guitar and sing hymns. We will rejoice in the knowledge that he is now with his Savior and Lord. Sunny was preceded in death by his wife, Pinkie Hughes; two sons, Roy and Tyrone; his parents and a sister. He leaves to cherish his memories, seven children, Oscar, Julia, James, Carolyn, Donna, Ernestine and Cecil; a host of other relatives and friends. A celebration of life will be held 2 p.m. Friday, June 3 at Hampton Memorial Gardens. The family will receive guests 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, June 2 at the funeral home. On Friday, family and friends are to assemble at 5 Foley St., Hampton by 1 p.m. The Hughes family is receiving services of comfort from Nicholson-Cummings Funeral Home, 4304 Victoria Blvd., Hampton.
