Hold Service Saturday For M. Finnestad

Mark Steven Finnestad, 19, of Algona, died at his home on highway 18 west of Algona Thursday, June 8. He had not been well for the past year.

Funeral service for Mark was held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in the Free Methodist Church at Armstrong with Pastor Robert Kern of Algona and Pastor Charles Fender, Jr., Armstrong officiating. Interment was in the Armstrong Grove Cemetery, the Geilenfeld-Schaaf-McCullough Funeral Service of Algona in charge of arrangements.

Casket bearers were Mike Thortsen, John Gilmore, Dean Coleman, Kenny Ewoldt, Joe Mealman and Dan Mealman.

A son of Mark Franklin and LaVonne Eckholm Finnestad, Mark was born in Toul, France June 3, 1959. He had lived in Colorado, St. Paul, Minn. and Swea City before coming to Algona in June of 1977. He was an auto mechanics student at Northwest Tech in Sheldon at the time of his death. Mark was a member of the Baptist Church in Swea City.

He is survived by his mother and step-father, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Blom of Algona; his father and step-mother, Mr. and Mrs. Mark F. Finnestad of St. Paul, Minn.; and two sisters, Tyan Yoss and Jackie Smith, both of Algona.

Grandparents surviving are Mrs. Loretta Eckholm of Armstrong and Mr. and Mrs. Amos Finnestad of Fenton. (Kossuth County Advance, Algona, IA, June 12, 1978)
