Roger Elton Miller, 75, Clermont, Iowa, died Friday, July 19, 2013, at the Good Samaritan Center, Postville, Iowa. He was born on September 26, 1937 to Earl and Marion (Stock) Miller in rural Postville, Iowa. Roger attended Cherry Valley Country School and two years at Waukon Public School. He graduated from Luana Consolidated High School in 1955. Roger enlisted in the United States Army in 1956 as a US Army Rifle Team Expert and Ordinance Instructor. He was honorably discharged in 1958.

On May 26, 1959, Roger was united in marriage with Donna Mae Walz at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Monona, Iowa. Two sons were born to this union, James and Richard. Roger was a dairy farmer for twenty-seven years. He also started a lumber business in 1986 called Miller Lumber Products. He was a lifetime member of the AmVets, the NRA and a member of the Knights of Columbus. He loved firearms, especially loud ones. He also enjoyed hunting and being in the woods. Roger planted many thousands of hardwood seedlings through the years.

Roger is survived by his wife Donna Mae Miller of fifty-four years; his two sons, James Earl Miller of Waukon and Richard "Rick" Roger (Nadine) Miller of Postville; five grandchildren, Michael, Benjamin, Amanda, Randina and Justin; his siblings, Frederick Miller of Waukon, Ruth Quandahl of Waukon and Kermit (Lana) Miller of Postville.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Marilyn Clark; two sisters-in-law, Marjorie Miller and Cathy Miller and two brothers-in-law, Richard Quandahl and Lloyd Clark.

Visitation will be held on Monday, July 22, 2013, from 4-8 pm with an 8:00 pm scripture service at the Schutte – Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Clermont, Iowa. Visitation will also be held one hour before mass time at the church on Tuesday.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, July 23, 2013, at 11:00 am at St. Peter Catholic Church, Clermont, Iowa. The Rev. Dale Rausch will be the celebrant.

Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery, Waukon, Iowa, with military rites.
