Hello. I think it is important to correct the death date of my great, great grandfather, Stephen Coe Snow. He died September 25, 1865 - AFTER the Civil War officially ended.

He was killed by "bushwackers:" outlaws who terrorized
southern Missouri during and after the war that tore this area apart, "brother against brother," until about 1868.

Stephen Coe Snow owned and exploited a small lead mine in mineral-rich Taney county before the war. He had camouflaged it during the height of the conflict, escaping to Arkansas with his family;

after the fighting ended he returned to find and reopen it when he was murdered. He was able to ride to his sister's home nearby where he died.
