Mrs. Clyde McCamant Vaughan, 84, widow of the late Charles Marvin Vaughan, Spring Valley, died in a Galax hospital about 12:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 7, 1966.

Mrs. Vaughan's husband was for many years a widely known citizen and farmer, merchant and postmaster at Spring Valley. She was a daughter-in-law of the late Rev. T. C. Vaughan of Spring Valley, long a noted Methodist minister of Spring Valley and Fries, and also a merchant, banker and former Spring Valley postmaster.

Mrs. Vaughan was born in Grayson County, just south of Galax, September 28, 1882, to Thomas Jefferson and Ella Jane Hale McCamant.

Galax Mayor McCamant C. Higgins is a nephew of Mrs. Vaughan.

Surviving also are one son, C. M. Vaughan, Jr., Rural Retreat; a foster-daughter, Mrs. David Leo, Silver Spring, Md., and four grandchildren, Dr. Thomas J. Vaughan, Durham, N.C.; Miss Charlotte Hale Vaughan, Alexandria, and Miss Carol Vaughan and Miss Rosamond Vaughan, both of Rural Retreat.

Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Ebenezer Methodist Church by the Rev. E. R. Allison, pastor of the church, and the Rev. W. George Jones, pastor of the Rural Retreat Methodist Church.

Interment was in the church cemetery.

The body rested at Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home, Galax, until time for removal to the church at the time for the services.
