He married Hazel Louise Howe, daughter of George Washington Howe and Louise B. Gaines, on January 10, 1920, in Minneapolis, Hennepin County, Minnesota; they were married until his death. The couple had three children, namely:

"A. J. LEICK, LOCAL RESIDENT, DIES IN GRAND FORKS
Alexander J. Leick, Jamestown resident, died in Grand Forks this morning at 1:30 o'clock after a long illness.
Mr. and Mrs. Leick went to Grand Forks about three months ago. He was a proprietor of Hill View for a number of years and before that was an automobile salesman.
Survivors are his widow [Hazel Louise (Howe) Leick]; two sons, Lt. Russell Leick, who is in Grand Forks, just having returned from Europe; Radioman A. J. Leick, United States Navy, who returned from the Pacific to be with his father, and a daughter, Mary, Grand Forks; two brothers, Julius, Jamestown, and Peter, Wimbledon; two sisters, Mrs. Ann Willke [sic-Anna Wilke], and Mrs. J. Carr [sic-Josephine Karr], Chicago.
Funeral services will be held at the Willett Mortuary Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Rev. L. R. Burgum will be in charge. The body will be brought to the Willett mortuary this evening."
