John C. Drennan, born May 16, 1871, died December 20, 1948, aged 77. Survived by his mother, Mrs. Frances Drennan Neece, now 99, and one brother, Robert H. Drennan of Molino, Tennessee. Also, two children, Mrs. Frank Pigg of Fayetteville, Tennessee, and Mrs. Basil V. Hicks of Arkadepphia, Arkansas, and her two grandchildren, Basil, Jr. and Olivia Ann, ages four and two, respectively.

Mr. Drennan attended Milton College and was graduated in 1893 from the Fayetteville Collegiate Institute, receiving a B. S. Degree. He taught three years in the public schools of Lincoln County, and one year at West Tennessee College. Abandoning teaching, he traveled throughout the southern states for two years as a salesman. For the next thirteen years, he engaged in lecturing under the auspices of the State and National Anti-Saloon League, covering most of the states of the union. Returning home, he engaged in the mercantile business for 12 years on the North side of the public square in Fayetteville, Tennessee. He was associated with the First National Bank of Fayetteville as a Director until it closed by the government in the crash of 1933. Soon after, the Union National Bank of Fayetteville was organized in 1933, and Mr. Drennan associated with that institution at its beginning, as a Director and later as Chairman of the Board of Directors, which position he held until his death.

Mr. Drennon possessed strong religious convictions and for sixty years was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church, being for forty years a Bible Class teacher, forty years a ruling Elder, and twenty years, Clerk of the Church Session.

Funeral services will be held December 21, 1948 at 2 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, the Rev. Otis Welch, Pastor, officiating.

Active pall bearers are Dave Buchanan, Earl Jones, Owen Bagley, Battle Bagley, T. A. Clark, and Milton Moore. Elders and Deacons of the First Presbyterian Church and officials of the Union National Bank are honorary pall bearers.
