Mrs. Alice Ruth Pruitt Lenderman, age 99, of North Wilkesboro , widow of Charles Howard "Charlie" Lenderman, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, July 18, 2013 at Wilkes Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held Sunday 3:00 PM, July 21, 2013 at Hinshaw Street Baptist Church with the Rev. Sherrill Wellborn, the Rev. Tim Pruitt and the Rev. Jim Gore officiating. Burial will be in Mountlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home Saturday evening from 6 until 8. Mrs. Lenderman came into this world on February 20, 1914 in the Springfield Community of Wilkes County to Rev. John Calloway "J.C." and Amanda Ethel Cleary Pruitt. Ruth attended the Springfield School until the Pruitt family moved to town on February 19, 1924. You might say Ruth was born into the church, as her father was the first Pastor of Hinshaw Street Baptist Church, when the church was founded in 1927. She was the last charter member of Hinshaw Street Baptist Church, where she was a faithful member of the Naomi Sunday School Class until her health failed last October. Mrs. Lenderman served in several capacities in years past in the church including choir, Women's Missionary Union, Sunday school and Bible school teacher, communion committee and numerous other positions. Mrs. Lenderman was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; sisters, Ester Johnson, Vecie Michael; brothers, Clarence "Tip" Pruitt and Rev. Albert Pruitt. Mrs. Lenderman is survived by one daughter, Jane Lenderman Jarvis and husband, Jim of Wilkesboro; one son, Jerry Lenderman and wife, Hazel of North Wilkesboro; one sister, Cora Rhodes of Winston-Salem; one brother, Jack Pruitt and wife, Betty of Swansboro, NC; grandchildren, Keith Lenderman and wife, Pam, Jeff Lenderman and wife, Rebecca, Tony Jarvis and wife, Jennifer all of North Wilkesboro, Todd Jarvis of Lexington, NC; great-grandchildren, Kelly Lenderman Plumley and husband, John Ryan of Oahu, HI, Jeffrey Lenderman and wife, Abigail, Kristen Lenderman, Daniel Jarvis all of Wilkesboro, Tim Jarvis and wife, Ashley of Raleigh; Sara Jarvis, Hayslei Jarvis, Brenna Jarvis all of North Wilkesboro and four great, great-grandchildren.
