Sylvanus was born in the summer of 1785 and died March 5, 1868 at the age of eighty-two years, seven months and fifteen days. His grave is at the Rider Lutheran Cemetery, Centre Township, Butler County in lot #11. There are two tombstones for Sylvanus, one placed by the family and another by the Military.
Sylvanus first married a Miss Bridget Gillespie, who bore him at least five children.... We believe Bridget to be buried in the family plot at the homestead...
