According to Jeptha's diary, he attended the first Masonic meeting held in Dawson Co., Ga. He was a farmer and detailed his every day doings in the diary.

Married June 28, 1839

After Jeptha died, Lucinda moved back to Dawson County, Ga. to live with her Daughter, Sarah Talley Burt. She is buried at Bethel Baptist Church, in Dawson Co., Ga. she doesn't have a tombstone.

Jeptha had a son named Martin Van Buren Talley who was killed in the Civil War.He was a Regimental Team Master in the 23rd Reg. Ga. Inf. Co. D Gilmer Co., Ga. 6-20-1862 - 4-30-1864.
Missing July, 1865 Smithfield, Johnson Co., N.C. probably buried there.
Martin's wife was Sarah Melinda McAfee who md. Gabriel Hughes after Martin was killed.She is buried at Bethel Baptist Church in Trenton, Florida.
