Mrs. Zeiter Dies Suddenly Tuesday Afternoon
Was Beloved By All
Probably not since Harlowtown was started has the town received such a sudden and unexpected shock as that received Tuesday afternoon when the sad news of Mrs. Zeiter’s death was announced. The citizens were leaving work, and repairing to there homes when the news of the sudden death was spread over the town
Many knew that Mrs. Zeiter was ill, but none realized that the illness was serious or that she was in any danger. This fact accounts for the completeness of the shock. Mrs. Zeiter had been confined to her bed for several days with a sore throat, and an attack of tonsillitis. On Tuesday afternoon at 4:30 o’clock p.m., she entered a sleep and passed to the great beyond without a struggle. It is thought that the ultimate cause was heart failure.
Mrs. Alice Zeiter came to Harlowton in June and was employed as a cashier and bookkeeper by the H. E. Marshall firm, in which compactly she was employed at her death. Before coming to Harlowton she lived at Butte where she still has a host of friends. Since coming to Harlowton Mrs. Zeiter became very popular and active in the society life of the town. Among the young people especially she was universally liked, and her gentle, pleasant demeanor was admitted by all. The floral tribute by many of her friends of Harlowton is only a small token of the high esteem in which she was held.
The remains were taken to the train Thursday afternoon and will be laid at rest at Bridger on Friday.
Mrs. Zeiter’s mother came up from Bridger, their home, and accompanied the body to its destination.

Mrs. Alice Zeiter, formerly residing here, but being employed in Harlowton, Mont., previously to her last illness, which was of only five days’ duration, is dead. Mrs. Zeiter was 31 years of age and leaves one child, a boy 12 years of age. She was the daughter of Mrs. Emma J. Smith, and the mother of and three sisters-Hazel, Annie and Mrs. Mabel Shriver survive her. The funeral services were conducted at the home of J.N. Bean and were in charge of the Rev. J.E. Coad, pastor of the Methodist church. Interment was in the Bridger cemetery.
