Born in Pulaski county in 1866 and one of the county's oldest residents, he is survived by four sons, Carl D. Smith, Raymond P. Smith and Audrey Smith, all of Pulaski, and H. W. Smith, of Mullins, W. Va.; six daughters, Mrs. Clyde R. Ryan, Mrs. M. A. Mabry, Mrs. L. R. Byrd, Mrs. J. F. Morris and Mrs. Cora. Long, all of Pulaski, and Mrs. Daisy Holt, of Radford. One brother, R. T. Smith, of Dublin, and one sister, Mrs. Crockett Nance, of Dublin, also survive.
Grandsons served as active pallbearers.
