Obituary - The Evening Star (Washington, D.C.), July 4, 1956:

Dr. John Robert Lloyd, 57, Prominent Eye Surgeon

Dr. John Robert Lloyd, 57, Bethesda eye surgeon, died unexpectedly early yesterday after suffering a heart attack at his Chevy Chase (Md.) home.

He and his wife, Marjorie Sparks Lloyd, lived at 133 Hesketh street.

Dr. Lloyd was well known in medical and civic circles.

Veteran of Two Wars
He came to the District in 1927, two years after he was graduated cum laude from the University of Indiana School of Medicine.

He assumed an internship at Episcopal Eye, Ear and Throat Hospital here, a position he held previously at City Hospital at Indianapolis, and later served as resident physician. He settled in Chevy Chase in 1928.

Dr. Lloyd had two offices, at 1218 Sixteenth street N.W. and 4422 East-West Highway, Bethesda.

He was a veteran of World War I Army service and served again during World War II as eye examiner of thousands of local draftees.

He was a member of Phi Beta Pi medical honorary, the District Medical Society, the District Opthalmological Society, the Bethesda-Chevy Chase Rotary Club, the American Medical Association, the University Club and the Kenwood Golf and Country Club.

32d Degree Mason
He was a 32d degree Mason, Bethesda Lodge No. 204.

Besides his widow, whom he married in 1923, Dr. Lloyd is survived by three daughters, Mrs. B.R. Wailes, 4422 East West highway, Bethesda; Mrs. T.A. Tyrrell, 9Q Southway road, Greenbelt, Md., and Mrs. Charles Schwob, 18F Ridge road, Greenbelt; his mother, Mrs. Elizabeth Lloyd, 4318 Curtis road, Chevy Chase, and three grandchildren.

Services will be held in Robert A. Pumphrey's Funeral Home, 7557 Wisconsin avenue, Bethesda, at 11 a.m. Friday. Burial will be in Parklawn Cemetery.
