FRED KUBIE, 71, DIED EARLY TUESDAY

Fred Kubie, well known in this area as a former farmer near Herman, passed away at the Blair Hospital early Tuesday morning. Death was attributed to a heart ailment.

For the past 13 years, he had lived in Omaha but had been taken to the Blair hospital only Monday evening when his condition became serious.

Fred Kubie was born in Germany September 5, 1884 and came to this country with his family when but a small boy.

In 1908 he was married to Marie Behrendt and the couple farmed southwest of Herman for many years. He was a good farmer and an industrious worker and in his quiet way made many friends. Mrs. Kubie passed away in 1950.

Only a week ago he had retired from his work in Omaha anticipating spending the balance of his life enjoying the fruits of his labor. But retirement was not his lot and he was stricken with a heart attack from which he did not recover.

He is survived by two daughters and one son. The daughters are Mrs. Einar Hansen (Esther) of Blair; Mrs. Howard Triplett (Florence) of Omaha. The son, Howard Kubie, who operates an implement business in Blair. Five grandchildren are among the survivors.

Two brothers, W. C. Kubie of Fremont and Ernest Kubie of Blair also survive.

Services will be held at the Bendorf Funeral Home this afternoon (Thursday). Burial will be made in the Blair Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be nephews of the deceased. They will be Kenneth, Roy, Harvey, Reynold and Vernon Kubie and Curtis Behrendt.
