PASSED TO THE BEYOND

About 9 a.m. on the 13th of May, 1910, the spirit of Mr. S. R. Burford took its flight from this earth to its everlasting home beyond, from which no one ever returns.

He was suddenly stricken with spinal meningitis on the 7th of May, and all was done that loved ones and medical aid could do, but the God who giveth had made ready to call him from this world of trouble and pain, and at St Joseph's hospital, Memphis, whither he had been carried the day before, he breathed his last. His remains were brought home and laid at rest in union Cemetery by the side of his three sons who had crossed the river before. Two daughters and three sons survive him. He was first stricken with the dread disease about thirteen years ago, from which time until death relieved him his life was one of pain and misery. How sweet it ought to be to his loved ones and many friends to know he is with the Great Physician who can heal all pain.

Mr. Burford joined the Christian Church in early life, and has been a faithful Christian, ever ready to do the right and shun the wrong.

May his rest be peaceful.
