SOUTHARD KERNERSVILLE Dewey Alton Southard July 16, 2013 Dewey Alton Southard, 82, went home to be with the Lord July 16, 2013. Funeral Services celebrating his life will be held 11:00AM Friday July 19, 2013 at Gospel Light Baptist Church with Dr. Bobby Roberson and Rev. Tim Hicks officiating. Interment will follow in Gardens of Memory, Walkertown. A native of Stokesdale, he was the son of the late Florence Lester and James Jasper Southard. After retiring from Bell South in 1987, he worked independently until just recently. He was a member of Gospel Light Baptist Church and was a driver with the Bus Ministry. He also loved being the "Chef" for the Special Class at the church, and was fondly known as "Papa Dewey". In addition to his parents, he also was preceded in death by his sister Audrey Marshall, and brother's Hollie and Leon Southard. Survivors include his loving wife of 25 years Frances V. Southard of the home; daughters Kathy Parrish and Steve, Karen Jennings and Kip, Amy Talladay and Dave, Betsy Hager and Tony, and Patti Harwood and Eddy; step-daughters Wanda Gilmer and Skip, Penny Brannock and Nathan, Kathy O'Neal and Ben, and Barbie Duggins and David; 22 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; brother Elroy Southard and Jean of Stokesdale; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
