Obituary from The Messenger of Truth Issue 1, 1947:

Husband and father, Pete Koehn, was born at Halstead, Kansas, on Oct. 30, 1880, and died in the home of his son Walter, near Burns, Kansas on Dec. 2, 1946, at 10:30 P. M., reaching the age of 66 years, l month, and 2 days. Death was caused by cancer.
Father with his parents moved to Durham, Kansas in 1896, and a few years later moved on a farm in Okla.
On Jan. 2, 1902 he was joined in marriage to Fanny Schmidt. Our union was blest with 7 children, 5 daughters and 2 sons. 2 daughters and 1 son preceded him in death.
Father was in fair health until three years ago when he began to fail, growing weaker as time went on. Medical aid gave but temporary relief. He became bed-fast the last several months. He bore his affliction patiently.
During his illness, father made special efforts in seeking peace for his soul, for which he had long sought and finally found. On Feb. 23, 1946 he was baptized and added to the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite. Father expressed his thankfulness many times that he was saved, which was a great comfort to him in his suffering. He has left us the hope of eternal rest.
He leaves to mourn his departure, his sorrowing wife, four children; Mrs. Elda Schmidt and Evelyn of Chickasha, Okla.; Mrs. Velma Wathins, of Houston, Texas; Walter of Burns, Kansas; one daughter-in-law, two sons-in-law, mother-in-law, Lena Koehn, 8 grand children, one brother and 4 sisters. Those that preceded him in death are, father, mother, one grandchild, one brother and and three sisters.
Funeral services were first conducted at Burns, Kansas on Wed. Dec. 2, with Ministers Ernest Wiggers of Whitewater, and Jesse H. Jantz, of Neodasha, Kansas in charge, speaking from Isa. 38:1; Rev. 14:13.
Following this service the body was taken to Chickasha, Okla., where another service was held on Friday, Dec. 6, 1946. Eben Nightengale opened with remarks and prayer, after which Min. John A. Koehn brought a message from 2 Tim. 4:6-8.
Interment was made in the adjoining cemetery.

Father thou has left us lonely;
Sorrow fills our hearts today;
But beyond this vale of sorrow;
Tears will all be wiped away.

Father, thou are sweetly resting;
On the lovely Saviour's brest;
Where the wicked cease from troubling;
And the weary are at rest.

Father thou art sweetly resting;
Here toils and cares are o'er;
Pain and sickness, death and sorrow
Never can distress thee more.
