Viola M. Ainsworth, 92, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2012, at Monticello House in Jackson.

She was born June 15, 1920, in Cape Girardeau, to Charles S. and Clara Ethel Nichols Long. She and James A. Ainsworth were married in Cape Girardeau. He preceded her in death.

Viola was a member of Red Star Baptist Church. She was a graduate of Central High School. She was a school bus driver with the Cape Girardeau School District, and also was a seamstress at Ralph Edwards Sportswear.

Survivors include four sons, Jim Ainsworth (Judith) and Gerald Ainsworth (Mary) of Cape Girardeau, Dennis Ainsworth of Jackson, Joseph Wayne Ainsworth of Cape Girardeau; a brother-in-law, Leon Ainsworth (Allene) of Cape Girardeau; three nephews, Russell, Tim and Ronald Garner; 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; five great-step-grandchildren; and several great-great-step-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters and a grandchild, Charles Ainsworth.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Donny Ford officiating. Burial will be in Fairmount Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the American Diabetes Association.
