Evelyn Zywicke age 89 of Stevens Point peacefully passed away at her home on Thursday, July 4, 2013.

Evelyn was born on November 13, 1923 in Stevens Point. She is the daughter of the late Andrew P. and Frances V. (Frydock) Laska. She was raised on the family farm in Rosholt along with her siblings, and attended the local rural school.

On October 24, 1939, Evelyn was united in marriage to Nick J. Zywicki at St. Adalbert Church in Rosholt, WI. The couple settled on a dairy farm in the Town of Franzen where they raised their three children, Ernest, Annette, and Lawrence. Besides dairy farming, Evelyn took great pride and joy in tending to her strawberries, raspberries, peonies, morning glorys, and raising geese. Her husband Nick died on February 21, 1963. Upon his passing, she sold the farmstead and moved to Stevens Point. Evelyn then married Chester S. Zywicke on April 20, 1968 at St. Adalbert Church in Rosholt. They had a wonderful life together and enjoyed traveling throughout the United States. Chester died on December 13, 2004.

Evelyn was employed as the Portage County Social Services Homemaker. A key element in obtaining this job opportunity was that she was fluent in understanding, reading, and speaking Polish. She enjoyed providing quality service and advice to many local families throughout Portage County until her retirement in 1986. She held the position of President of the Stevens Point Women's Deanery and President of the St. Stanislaus Rosary Society. She was also a past member of The Women of the Moose, Chapter 311.

Evelyn loved to dance. She made a point to attend the dedication of the new Clark Street Bridge so she could dance on it! She frequented the local church picnics and tried her luck at Bingo. She enjoyed socializing at many family gatherings. She was an expert seamstress, designing and sewing fashions for all. She also liked to crochet, creating many beautiful keepsakes. With her green thumb, she continued to nurture and grow wonderful houseplants and garden flowers. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Evelyn is survived by her two sons; Ernest (Cathy) Zywicki and Lawrence (Nancy) Zywicki of Stevens Point, and her daughter; Annette (Ernest) Glodowski of Amherst.
