He was united in marriage to Julia Verdier, Nov. 16, 1848. To this union seven children were born; one, Charles Edward died in infancy. Carbaugh, Chadwick, W.T. Carbaugh, Lanark, H.C. Carbaugh, Chicago, C.V. Carbaugh, Woodbine, Iowa, all present except C.V. of Woodbine, Iowa, who visited his father a week prior to his death. Father Carbaugh and his wife came to Carroll County, Ill. the spring of 1886, and resided at Maple Grove until 14 years ago, when he became a resident of the city of Lanark. His wife departed this life Aug. 19, 1907; since then he made his home with his daughter, Mrs. D.C. Byers, who has tenderly cared for him during his declining days. Father Carbaugh was converted when a young man and united with the Church of God of which he has become a faithful member, serving in various offices and was a life elder at the time of his death. He was always faithful and he will be missed for his seat will be empty. Services conducted from the Bethel at Lanark by Rev. Primrose, his pastor. Interment in the Lanark Cemetery.
