Margaret Louise Runchey (Peg) Dearing, of Salem, passed away Wednesday, March 21, 2007. She was born on December 16, 1924 in Saginaw, Michigan, grew up in Los Angeles, California and moved to Blacksburg, Virginia at the age of 16. She married Henry Earl Dearing on September 9, 1945 and they settled in Salem, Virginia. Mother of seven children and "second mom" to many more, Peg was the founder and director of Woodlawn School from 1966 until she retired in 1986. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, Hank, and her brother, Jim Runchey. She is survived by Sharon Theede and Danny Layman, Robin Dearing and Bill OConner, Nora Delatush and Richard Kidd, Molly Dearing, Mark and Sandra Dearing, Lissa Dearing and Allan Lewis, and Brian and Bridget Kelley Dearing. Also surviving are 13 grandchildren, Heather Theede Santello, Robin Alexis Delatush, Lauren, Matt and Lane Russo, Will and Clay OConner, Austin, Taylor and Logan Lewis, Zachary, Liam and Michael Dearing and six greatgrandchildren. Family and friends will gather for a celebration of Pegs life on Saturday, May 5, 2007 between 2 and 6 p.m. at her home in Salem.
