Shawnee resident Elsie Branscum Farris, 93, passed away Saturday, July 13, 2013 in Shawnee, Oklahoma.
Elsie was born December 4, 1919 in Francis, Oklahoma, the daughter of George Thomas and Maggie Agnes Goodman Compton.

She attended Bethel School. In June of 1938 she married Afton Kendal Branscum, who preceded her in death in 1955. In May of 1959 she married Charles Dale Farris, who preceded her in death in 1992.

Elsie loved sports, especially Thunder Basketball and OU women's basketball. She was a homemaker and a loving mother, as well as a dedicated member of Blackburn Chapel Baptist Church for over 70 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, brothers, Howard, Lucien and George Compton, sister, Bessie Wooten and daughter-in-law, Shirley Branscum.

She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, son, two grandsons, numerous loving nieces and nephews, including special niece, special sister-in-law, special friend, as well as many other loyal and loving friends.
