Funeral Services held Tuesday for James O Belden

James Osburn Belden, a native of Kentucky and a resident of Texas the past 79 years, passed away at his home, 802 Erwin Street, at 7:00pm Monday evening, Jan 14. In failing health the past eight years, he had been critically ill the past week.
Mr Belden, retired, had resided in McKinney since moving here from Melissa in 1907. For se4rveral years he was engaged in the hotel business here and was later employed as salesman with the firms of Martin Moses Dry Goods Company and the Brownlee and Nelson Company.
Born June 13, 1862 in Liberty, Casey County, Kentucky, Mr Belden was a son of the late Asa Belden and Kate Portman Belden. He came to Texas with his parents in 1872. He and Miss Esther Lindsey were united in marriage December 13, 1887 at Melissa.
To them were born six children. Surviving are Mr Belden's wife; three sons, Aurel Belden of McKinney; Charley Belden of Burkburnett and Jimmie Belden of McKinney; three daughters, Mrs Tom Hammond and Mrs Jim B Goodner of McKinney; and Mrs harry Steenson of Lufkin; six grandchildren Raymond Belden of Texarkana; Mrs Frank Moore of Wichita Falls; Jack Belden and Bob Hammond of McKinney; Mrs Curt Lane and Miss Peggy Ann Steenson of Dallas; and two great grandchildren.
The Rev T W Sisterson, pastor of the First Christian Church of which Mr Belden was a member, conducted the funeral services at 4:30pm Tuesday at the church. The body will lay in statte at the church an hour preceding the services. interment followed in Pecan Grove Cemetery with Erwin Kissinger, Otis Nelson, Pierce England, Ray Hendricks, Willie Scott, Otho Nicholas, Paul Wilson and Jim McElwain acting as pallbearers.
Massie Funeral Home of this city was in charge of arrangements.
