Ossian was the son of Abraham Myers (1832–1901) and Martha J. Ramsey (1839–1886 ). His death was described by his niece, Effie Etta Myers Peterson, to Gwen Myers Peterson in a letter dated January 12, 1974: "Ossian Myers had T.B. and he was coming out here to my Dad and he got a far as Canon City Colo, got very sick and died and was buried there."

Effie's father was Ossian's brother, John Curtis Myers, who was living in Cedaredge, Colorado in 1910.
