Friday evening, May 13, 1904, Oscar L. Snider died at his home, six miles northwest of the city, from pneumonia. Aged 42 years. He leaves a wife and eight small children.
Mr. Snider was born December 21, 1861 at Savannah, Missouri. During the Civil war his father and mother moved to Kentucky, where Mr. Snider received his education. In 1886, he came to Seward county and filed on a quarter section of land. He taught district school in Beaver county, Oklahoma and Stevens and Seward counties. In 1891 he married Miss Tena Hayne in this county, and establish a home in the neighborhood where the home is now located. Mr. Snider owned a few head of cattle and made a success of raising and selling garden truck to the Liberal market. Mr. Snider was a good and accommodating neighbor and had friends all over the county. His father, G. W. D. Snider, of Spencer county, Kentucky is still living, also his 4 brothers and 3 sisters. Mr. Snider had been a member of the Christian church for the last 20 years.
The funeral services were held at the Christian church. Rev. R. R. Coffey preached the sermon. The services were conducted under the auspices of A. O. U. W. of which he was a worthy member. The remains were buried in the Liberal Cemetery.
