Born April 17, 1933, in Kewanee to Harry and Florence (Carper) Prather, she married Verne Arnold Jan. 25, 1953, in Buda. He died June 5, 2003.
She graduated from Buda High School and attended Western Illinois University. She retired in 1997 after 30 years from Van Packer Co. in Buda.
She was a member of Buda American Legion Auxiliary 261. She had served on the Western School Board and the Bunker Hill Cemetery Board.
She enjoyed traveling, collecting teddy bears, gardening and attending her granddaughters' events.
Surviving are one son, Steven (Nyla) Arnold of Buda; one daughter, Linda (Patrick) Griggs of Princeton; five granddaughters, Abby and Maggie Griggs of Princeton, Jamie (Dallas) Munson of Princeton, and Jill and Katelyn Arnold of Buda; two great-grandchildren; and one brother, Ron Prather of Tiskilwa.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and one granddaughter, Lizzie Griggs.
Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Hopeland Cemetery, Buda, with Gaile Arnold officiating. Burial will be in Hopeland Cemetery.
There will be no visitation.
Memorials may be directed to the Hopeland Cemetery Association.
