She was the daughter of William H. and Sarah W. (Langhorne) Poindexter. Her first marriage was to Samuel Wiley Gleghorn - 23 Dec 1869 - Lincoln Co., Tennessee. After his untimely death, she married James N. Yarbrough - 12 Feb 1885 - Lincoln Co., Tennessee. Her obituary follows:

Mrs. Mary Yarbrough died after a long illness at the home of her brother, J. E. Poindexter, in Fayetteville, on Wednesday, October 24, 1900. She was born and reared in Fayette County, Tennessee, and moved to Lincoln County in 1869 and in 1870, was married to James Yarbrough. She was a member of the Missionary Baptist Church and believed and trusted in the word of the Master to the faithful. Her long suffering here but more fully prepared her for the enjoyment of that perfect rest and happiness that comes to those who die in the Lord. The funeral was conducted at the residence by Rev. G. A. Grammer, burial at Rose Hill Cemetery.
