Betty Jane Butler was born on March 24, 1924 to Harold and Ethel (Dinkel) Butler in Pierce, NE. Betty passed away on July 1, 2013 at the Avera Sacred Heart Hospital, Yankton, South Dakota after a serious fall.

Betty joined one older brother, Garold. She later welcomed her youngest brother, Marvin into the family. Betty attended School in Tripp County, South Dakota and graduated the 8th grade from the Newport (NE.) Public School. In 1942 she graduated from Stuart (NE.) Public High School. In June 1944 Betty became engaged to Raymond J. "Bill" Hoffman. They married in O'Neill, Nebraska on January 25, 1945. This union was blessed with three children, Jerry, Dwain and Judy. They made their home south of Naper, Nebraska, raising cattle and hogs. They also ran a trucking business and a feed store. Many people have fond memories of stopping in for feed and having a good visit.

In 1988 Betty and Bill moved to Atkinson, Nebraska. Both Betty and Bill loved having the grandkids come so they
could spoil them a little. Betty loved to cook and was always swapping recipes with her daughter-in-laws. Her
grandchildren will miss her famous chocolate chip cookies.

Survivors: Sons, Jerry Hoffman and his wife, Patricia of Winner, South Dakota and Dwain Hoffman and his wife, Linda of Bristow, Nebraska; 4 Grandchildren; 6 Great Grandchildren; 1 Great Great Grandchild and a host of family and friends.

Betty is preceded in death by: parents, Harold and Ethel Butler; husband, Raymond J. "Bill" Hoffman on February 1, 1993; infant daughter, Judy Ann Hoffman and brothers, Garold and Marvin Butler

Interment was in Stuart Community Cemetery, Stuart, Nebraska
